The ideal candidate will have a strong vision for physical therapy, higher education, and innovative education strategies to prepare physical therapists to meet the challenges of changing healthcare systems and collaborate with inter-professional teams. The Physical Therapy Department is housed in the School of Health Professions and is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Program Director reports to the Dean of the School of Health Professions.Concordia University is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and in the world.The DPT Program at CUAA is a full-time, year-round program of study. The curriculum spans seven semesters including didactic and clinical education. The hallmark of the program is its unique partnership with Rehab Essentials. This partnership provides students with foundational content expertly developed and provided through interactive video lectures allowing program faculty to focus on engaging learners in experiential learning opportunities. The outcome is a high-quality curriculum founded in best practices of learning sciences preparing students for success in a complex healthcare system.Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works with the appropriate university offices and representatives to maintain compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Has the primary responsibility and oversight for the coordination and completion of all documentation related to the physical therapy program.
  • Coordinates on-site visits and correspondence related to program accreditation for outside organizations.
  • Works with appropriate university committees and offices to accurately portray the graduate curriculum based on the internal and ongoing assessment and review of the department faculty.
  • Ensures that admission requirements and program outcomes are reported to stakeholders.
  • Works with appropriate university committees, offices, and officials to establish and enforce program related policies that ensure the safety of faculty, staff, and learners.
  • Provides guidance to learners and faculty concerning policies and procedures.
  • Works in partnership with members of the core faculty to develop professional and personal goals that serve the faculty, program, and university to ultimately benefit learners.
  • Oversees the ongoing needs of faculty development and performance.
  • Manages departmental resources to ensure program needs are sufficiently supported to carry out the curriculum.
  • Works with the Business Office and Administration to establish an annual operating budget.
  • Works with the Dean of the School of Health Professions to develop a teaching load consistent with university expectations.
  • Other duties as assignedIn many respects the program director is the face of the physical therapy program; maintaining positive relationships with the university community is important. Community relationships locally, regionally, and nationally provide recognition of both the program and more importantly the University. Maintaining and growing the presence of the University in a positive and professional manner is expectedKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Knowledge of and experience with CAPTE accreditation standards. This includes but is not limited to monitoring of new standards/updates, maintenance of accurate information, timely submission of fees, following all CAPTE procedures, and required documentation.
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, administrative, and scholarship experience in an academic setting.
    • Effective communication and collaborative skills, including the ability to work with members of other departments to meet Departmental, School and University mission and goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of faculty and staff to achieve DPT program goals and outcomes.
    • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)Education & Experience
      • Current licensure to practice physical therapy in Michigan, or eligibility.
      • Earned academic/research doctorate.
      • Current rank of associate professor or professor.
      • Minimum of 6 years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in a PT education program.
      • Membership in a Christian congregation; members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod are especially encouraged to apply.Physical Demands/EquipmentCompensation and Benefits This is a full-time, faculty, exempt position.
