Job Description

The Counseling and Psychological Services ( CPS ), a department within the Division of Student Affairs at Ohio University, is inviting applications for a psychologist position to join an exciting team of diverse professionals. CPS is located in Athens, OH, in Southeastern Ohio. CPS is an interdisciplinary and multiculturally proficient center actively engaged and committed in providing compassionate mental health services, outreach, and training. CPS fosters the mental health of students of OU and actively collaborates with staff and faculty as it strives to nurture student success, and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and multiculturally aware campus community. CPS is a dynamic part of the Division of Student Affairs and is highly utilized by students and other campus constituents seeking a variety of mental health services. Staff are cohesive, collegial, engaged, and passionate about working within a campus environment. CPS runs a large training program comprised of psychology, counselor education and social work graduate trainees and a doctoral psychology internship. CPS is an IACS accredited counseling center and has an APA accredited health service psychology doctoral internship program. CPS is committed to providing high quality and best standards of practice; the clinical service, training, outreach, and professional development are informed by research, local data, and benchmarking with national trends and peer institutions. CPS identifies closely with the OHIO's values and the mission and strategic plan of the Division of Student Affairs.

These positions require a doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology to provide mental health services to Ohio University students at the Counseling and Psychological Services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Provide individual, couple and group counseling, conduct initial intake and triage assessments and psycho-diagnostic assessments, crisis interventions, mental health consultation. Be part of after-hours crisis rotation team. Be inclusive, equity-oriented, and diversity-aware. We seek a professional committed to working with people holding similar and different worldviews while advocating for inclusion of all persons.
2. Provide outreach, training and consultation to staff, faculty and students.
3. Supervise and evaluate clinical work of doctoral and/or masters interns and trainees. Advance cultural competency of trainees and supervisees.
4. Attend weekly clinical and staff meetings and participate in committees within and outside the center. Participate in diversity and social Justice initiatives at the center and the university.
5. Complete clinical documentation and clinical preparation; perform administrative duties as assigned by the director.

Opportunities for leadership roles within the counseling center are high. These are often aligned with candidate's professional interests such as administration of clinical or training programs, outreach services, new and innovative collaborative programs with interdisciplinary teams across campus.

Decisions of the CPS staff are governed by ethics and standards of professional practice; licensing requirements of the State of Ohio; Ohio University policies and procedures; CPS policies and procedures; and HIPAA Standards. A background check is required. Start date is negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications

An APA accredited doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology.

Licensed in the state of Ohio as a psychologist or must obtain license within 18 months of hire.

A minimum of 2 years experience in providing counseling and psychological services.

A strong commitment to diversity and multicultural competency. Ability to work with a full range of mental health challenges. The ability to provide mental health consultation for faculty and staff is essential. Has the knowledge and understanding of the developmental issues of college students.
